

Berks Arts Council announces 2012 Art of Jazz Winners:
Pottstown artist Raun Kercher’s painting, Charles Mingus received first prize in the 7th annualArt of Jazz: the Frank Scott Memorial Art Show, ajuried exhibition. 2012 marked a record number of entries with 65 artists and over 100 works of art competing for the top prize. Juror Dick Boak felt that Kercher’s painting “seems to exemplify the spirit of jazz expression.”
GoggleWorks’ resident Glass Artist and Studio Manager Scott Krenitsky received second place for his “playful piece of glass artistry,” Piano Con Moto and third place went to Barrie Spessler’s assemblage sculpture, Dramatic Chromatic. In addition to the cash prizes, Boak named Honorable Mentions for artists Michelle Byrne, Angela Scanzello, Jasmine McNeil, Susan Biebuyck, Lynn Millar, Maria Ruoff, Bryan Barskey, Peggy C. Reisch and Jane Runyeon.

2010 Juried Art Show
All artworks entered were on display in the Yocum Institute for Arts Education, 1100 Belmont Ave., Wyomissing, from Aug. 5 through 20, 2010. Winning artwork was revealed at an award ceremony/reception on Thursday, Aug. 5. Photos from the Winner's Reception can be found here.
