Marie Defilipps
Originally from Chenango Bridge, New York, a
suburb of Binghamton, Marie knew her career would somehow
involve art.
After attending SUNY Binghamton, majoring in painting and
sculpture she moved to Kutztown, PA. She earned an Associates
Degree in Drafting Technology and worked in the field of
architecture for 15 years. While working and starting a family
she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Kutztown
University. Additionally, she earned an Art Education
Certification, and a Master of Art Education also at KU.
Over the years she has been involved in many local art events
and organizations. She has taught private lessons to both
children and adults in art, and currently enjoys teaching art in
grades 1 through 6 in public school. Her paintings have been
shown at The College Gallery at RACC, the Salon Exhibit at the
New Arts Program in Kutztown, the Goggleworks Café and at
various local art venues and juried shows, including the BAA
2007 show at the Reading Public Museum.
Paintings include; watercolor, acrylic and oil. Subjects include
still life, interiors, feathers, birds, arrowheads, and objects
from the natural world realistically portrayed. The backgrounds
often are created using many textures and layers of color.
Inspiration for her current works comes from visions obtained
during meditation, dreams and nature.
