Bruce Becker

You're invited to the book signing of a story that instills hope and inspiration to all those reading it around the world: Sunday, February 8, 2009, at Goggleworks (Second Sunday).

Meet Bruce Becker Artist and Author of:"Kindness and Compassion" The inspiring aftermath to the tragic Amish schoolhouse shootings

Kindness and Compassion is filled with his first hand, exclusive interviews and meetings with those involved in the tragedy of October 2006. He was invited into all the homes of the Amish families. Met the children who were in the classroom. Had the only meeting and interview given by the gunman's widow and met with her family. All the State Trooper and EMT's sought him out. His involvement drew local, national and international attention. Among many other media appearances, ABC featured him in their documentary, "Tragedy in Amish Country, which continues to air worldwide.

Kindness and Compassion is the true story of his encounters. A story of how he followed the signs put before him and the calling in his heart to do what he felt was right, no matter what the cost. It chronicles: The finding and painting of "the bell." The connections made that propelled it and him into the public eye. The invitations and visits with the Amish and gunman's family.
Being
immersed into the middle of an international tragedy and the media blitz that ensued. Through it all, he was a bridge between the faith based, devastated,

Amish community and fast paced, concerned and curious, English world.

This journey changed his life and the lives of people around the world.
Through this book you will know the message cultivated along his journey. A message that brings us all closer together through "Kindness and Compassion."

"Slow Clay" the ceramic art of Willi Singleton

“Making pots is like cooking. You have to start with good ingredients to get a flavorful, satisfying result,” says Willi Singleton, a local ceramicist whose ‘good ingredients’ come from the local clay found in his own backyard in Kempton, PA. Singleton’s work is world recognized for its contemporary and elegant design, which he achieves using a very traditional wood-fired climbing kiln.

An exhibition of his works will be held at the Allentown Art Museum, Payne Hurd Gallery, 31 N. 5th St. Allentown January 11th through April 12th. A "5 after 5" opening reception takes place on January 9 from 5 to 7 pm. An Artist discussion and slide show is being held on February 4th at 12 pm.
