J. Sibbett Creative

Jeffrey Sibbett

Jeff Sibbett holds his roots in Fayetteville, North Carolina, having transplanted to Lancaster, Pennsylvania permanently since 2003. The middle child of two other siblings, he exhibited an aptitude for drawing early on which blossomed in his teenage years.

Jeff is a self-taught artist, creating mainly in the avenue of abstract and multimedia arts. His artistic ability in the areas of figure drawing, sculpture and graphic design helped to earn himself an art scholarship to Lee University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1999. He is proficient in a variety of media, including acrylic paint, watercolor, photography, collage and sculpture. Many of his works are inspired by industrialism, line fluidity, texture and chemical processes, furthermore, characterized with both bright and deep color palettes, as well as unorthodox techniques.

The resurgence of Jeff’s creative motivation has spanned the past 5 years, having taken a hiatus from artistic expression for almost 30 years. Jeff is a self-taught abstract artist, working out of his home studio. Most of his works bend the homeostasis of line constraint, raw fluidity of materials and highly visual textures. Faux finishes and textures are achieved through layering, wash techniques and in some cases unorthodox applications. His most current body of work combines industrialism and raw organics, paired with a slight mid-century thread. Jeff’s aim is to advocate that structured, line markings and organic texture can coexist. Although his works are usually symmetrical in their aesthetic, this balance is a fabric to contain, and give room, to those adjacent textures.
